Walking The Dogs (1)

I got a couple of fun Skywatch Friday shots while walking the dogs in my neighborhood recently - here's one in the late afternoon a few days ago looking towards the mountains.

Moody Morrow Rock

Here are the last of my photos from California's Montaña de Oro State Park, this time looking towards a stormy Morrow Rock.
I like the mixture of light and shade in this next shot.
Since I live nearly a thousand miles from the ocean it's always magical for me to see the waves crashing. I think this next shot is my favorite from the park.

Hiking Laika

From the same hike I talked about last week, here's a shot of little Laika, happy to be out in the wilderness with me.

Rainbow Over San Luis Obispo

This shot was taken on my last trip to San Luis Obispo. It's a beautiful area but since the family that lived in the area moved away, I'll no longer have a reason to visit. I'll just have to enjoy the photos I've taken over the years, many of which I've posted on this blog.

Spooner's Cove

Here's another set of photos from Montaña de Oro State Park in central California, this time from a beach called Spooner's Cove.
It's a beautiful but rugged beach with great rock formations.
I was there on a stormy day and I thought that made it more dramatic.

Hiking Socks

Here's a shot of Socks on a recent hike - we hiked five miles, climbing to a place on Pikes Peak known as The Crags. Socks and Laika both walked the whole way with me. They get so excited when they see me get my hiking gear ready!

Labor Day Lift Off

Every Labor Day weekend (that's the first weekend in September) my home town of Colorado Springs hosts a big balloon festival. This year I went to Saturday evening's balloon glow, and was treated to strange designs like this cool crab.
There are always lots of people here to view the glowing balloons.
It's always fun to look straight up.
And of course, a closeup of the flames is mandatory!

Mountain Reflections

Taken at The Crags trail last weekend, here's a still pool of water and some pretty reflections from it.

Big Balloon

Taken on Saturday evening, here's a balloon proudly showing off my city's Olympic City designation. The USA's Olympic Training Center is here, as well as the United States Olympic Committee Headquarters, and a future Olympic Museum.

Rugged California Beach

Happy Labor Day to my American readers! I love the central California coast and one of the best places to see it is the Montaña de Oro State Park.
This isn't the warm Southern California beach - it's rugged and inaccessible, except for the few roads in the area.
There are a lot of cliffs.
And on a stormy day like this I think it has a unique beauty.
