Colorado Springs has several cities around the world with which it maintains "sister city" relationships. The first of these relationships was created in 1962, with Fujiyoshida, Japan, and this gate and shrine (in the middle of a busy downtown road) commemorate this.

I like the gate. I think it's neat when cities have 'sister cities' from around the world. I know our town does ... they have an 'exchange' every couple of years where some local citizens go to Japan while local Japanese citizens come here. It's really quite fun.
ReplyDeleteIt's awesome!
ReplyDeleteHave a good week.
i love Japanese design. it's always so intriguing. a great capture...
ReplyDeletethe Seattle pics and the Royal Gorge Incline are definitely eye catcher pics. you captured some inspiring views. glad you're not in immediate danger of those fires. hope all is well.

ReplyDeleteWonderful shot from that angle.
ReplyDeleteSydney - City and Suburbs
I suppose they have Sakura flower trees too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty Torii! I like the stone path, too :-)
ReplyDeleteI already guessed that the feature has a Japanese origin before I read the caption.
ReplyDeleteI used to live in Orange and we also have a sister city from Japan over there. We also have a sister city of Orange CA.
Isn't that wonderful? Fostering friendship and peace by adopting each city?
Thanks for the post and for the visit/comment left while I was away.
I have been to Fujiyoshida many times. They do have a lot of Toris in the city.
