We've had numerous wildfires in the state due to the extremely dry and windy condition. On Monday when I left the office the smell of smoke was quite noticeable (in fact there was a small grass fire behind my office building later that evening) and when I got home the haze was very visible. Looking up the sky was blue, but the haze lower down is actually smoke, not smog or clouds.
The closest major fire is on the other side of a mountain range so we're in no danger at this time, but these fires are a reminder of the danger of living in dry, forested area.

It makes me sad to see the smokey haze in our beautiful Colorado blue skies. There have been fires that we've been able to see like yours, even out here on the eastern plains.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to see that heavy, smoky haze because of the threat that it defines. I wish I could send you some of our rain -- although we do have the sun back today along with glorious blue skies. Great, but sad post for the day, Al! Do hope you get some rain soon. Take care!

Seems a little early for the fire season after all the winter snow we had in the SW. We are dealing with the huge Schultz fire near Flagstaff.
ReplyDeleteWow you can really see clearly where the smoke is! Fires are scary because they can suddenly spread...hope you are doing okay.
ReplyDeleteGreat sky-watch! We don't have brush fire during summer but we have El Nino Phenomenon.
ReplyDeleteTake care.
Have a safe weekend.

Hope it would not spread and you get rain soon.
ReplyDeleteGreat capture.
Have a great weekend
Beautiful SkyWatch photo
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend
an eerie but beautiful glow.
ReplyDeleteYour picture is very nice, but hate it had to have that terrible smoke in it. I never can understand why this happens every year.
ReplyDeleteSooo much sky, witrh an inversion layer of smog?
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear the fire season is getting underway. Even the Royal Gorge area shut down because of a fire. *sigh* Well, keep safe!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful view!! I really loved teh composition of the picture!!

hope you will get rains very soon. i love the photo of the blue sky and the lighting on the field, just ironic that it has the haze in the middle of the photo.
ReplyDeleteFires are terrible arent they, we also get them. I saw a small one today in fact, but it had been controlled. Love the picture!
ReplyDeleteWow. So sad that such a beautiful area has to be brought to ashes. I can imagine that the allergy sufferers are suffering mightily right about now.
ReplyDeleteM'illumino d'immenso !
ReplyDeleteBella foto.
I like the rural scene. We had that smokey haze of our past summer early this year and it was scary as if it was within the perimeter of our area.
ReplyDeleteI think there is nothing as drier as ours - drought is still here to stay. Not maybe in the city but more in the outback.
