Coming back to Colorado for this week's My World Tuesday post, here is another ruined cabin from a recent hike in the Monument area. I particularly liked the chimney, on which somebody had painted eyes.
Other than that, there's not much left.
This probably used to be a root cellar.
Of course, I had to look inside. It's being used as a shelter by a homeless person.
And of course, because of the last photo, I have to link this to Guest Heart Thursday as well!
Ruins like this are always interesting although I do hate to see the graffiti. And it is also sad that there are so many homeless people these days. Great post and photos as always, Al! Hope you've enjoyed a great weekend. Give Socks a pat from Sam and me and have a good week!

Of course you had to look inside -- not sure if I would have been brave enough especially with the chimney eyes watching and the chimney mouth open and hungry. Glad you braved it and found the hearts!
ReplyDeleteI love the first photo, such a great shot! low angle, cloudy background and the ruin.. So dramatic!
ReplyDeleteDramatic photo's Al. Great shots
ReplyDeleteAlthough I don’t know how this cabin was ruined, the chimney (perhaps because of its brick and stone) does have a crumbled charm. I'm hoping the homeless person has found a better place to live.
ReplyDeleteWonderful structure for chymney.
ReplyDeletela primera foto impresionante Al! que pena que este todo tan abandonado y mas pena aun que alguien en este mundo tenga que vivir asi. besos amigo
ReplyDeleteI'm fascinated with these kind of human remnants found in wild areas. I like to think about the who, what, where and when of the past occurrences at places like this. Very stimulating!
ReplyDeleteThat chimney is very interesting! Do I see teeth, too? Great angle for that shot :D
ReplyDeleteThat chimney is so unique! Great find.
ReplyDeleteI would probably have peaked my head in too ... simply because ruined old structures are irresistible to me!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you did, and found the heart ... even if I'm not so keen on seeing all the graffiti! With that said, I love the humor in the eyes and mouth of that first shot. Too funny!!!
This just proves that hearts really are everywhere!
ReplyDeleteNo matter what, you can find a heart.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos. Yes hearts can be found all over.. ;) LG Tina
ReplyDeleteInteresting place for hearts. It does prove hearts are all around.
ReplyDeleteI love visiting sites like this, sad there is so much graffiti , wonderful photos... tfs
