Fair Skies

My Skywatch Friday entry for the week, taken on May 30 in Portland, Oregon, at the Rose Festival and City Fair on one of the few days we saw any sunshine during our Seattle/Vancouver vacation. An hour later it was raining again.

  1. Terrific shots, Al, and lovely skies indeed! I lived in Portland for 15 years before I moved to Seattle and it is a wonderful place, but like Seattle, you sometimes have to wait for blue skies!! Enjoy your day!

  6. Yup, sounds like Oregon to me Al. (We're back there now -- Eugene area -- great to visit family and old friends, but I already know why we decided to travel away from here. And why our youngest kids moved to CO! -- sunshine is elusive here.

That's a very clever title for your skywatch post!.

  11. Hiya Al,

What a novel way to present skies. Striking with the bright red apparatus.

  13. I agree with Sallie, your post title is very clever and absolutely perfect! And the post itself is very festive and fun. I used to love the ride in your first photo when I was a kid... but my days of being able to ride something like that and not be carted off in an ambulance afterward are long over. LOL

I'm glad you got at least a little sunshine and blue skies at the fair!

  17. Hello Al and thank you for your nice words in my blog! You should once in your life feel an magical atmosphere of light summer nights :) It is something special even to me, who has lived through them always. But after dark, long winter they are every summer fantastic to live. I am at lake most of these light nights and I sleep very little during summers.
Our latitude is same as somewhere between Fairbanks and Anchorage in Alaska :)
    Rewarding weekend to you!
