I went out yesterday morning to take some photos in the yard for Our World Tuesday, and also for Tina's PicStory theme of shadows. We've been cold the last week, and an overnight freezing fog had just lifted. This fog left pretty ice petals on everything, and that's what you see here. This is not snow!
These photos had no definition straight out of the camera, so I had to play with various settings and curves in GIMP to get them to show the delicacy of the ice formations. That's rare for me, usually I post my photos without editing them.
Great variety of colors!
ReplyDeleteStunning!
Oh, it does look COLD, but beautiful! Marvelous captures for the day, Al, as always! I love the detail in the ice formations. I bet Socks was happy to get back inside today!! Hope your week is off to a great start! Enjoy!

Oh frosty pictures, so very lovely! I'm looking for my ice crystals, or snow crystals.. There might be hundreds or thousands or -more- of them here, too.. :))
ReplyDeleteSo good to hear you have this cold weather- run out to take more pictures!! :)) I regret I did not.. but hoping for the cold again.. frost in the air.. :)
Happy Valentine Day tomorrow! :)
Very nicely done! I think sometimes the camera can miss the nuances that causes us to be awestruck by some facet of nature … the tweaking in the second photo certainly shows why you were impressed. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful ice captures. Pretty winter scene. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteyour ice photos are so wonderfully captured.
ReplyDeleteWonderful ice sculptures. Beautiful shots. Love the icy blue color in the second photo.

ReplyDeleteI like your "not-snow" pictures. The nature provides us with small and big wonders.
ReplyDeleteHave a nica day.
I love what you did with the special effects....but the white stuff looks mighty cold to this wuss [me] here on the Gulf Coast! LOL
ReplyDeleteMy link today is HEARTS & SHADOWS Do come by for a visit if you can find time. I'd love your company. Happy Valentine's Day!!
Wonderful shots! The snow in the last picture is stunning.
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job with the 2nd one - even though it's edited:):)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cold captures Al!
ReplyDeleteGreetings from Holland,
Anna :-))
Al, Its just got to be so damn cold when you see ice crystals like that. Rather You, than me !!
ReplyDeleteThe ice is so well textured that the peaks and valleys give subtle shadows inside the icy patches. Nice effects given by the icy fog - we wouldn't ask for this weather maybe, but the artistry is all there!
ReplyDeletegood photos, i prefer the second photo, its very very good, with great contracts
ReplyDeleteI really like the second photo with the cold blue tones :D
