Although these photos were taken last year, Garden of the Gods is again open, and was not touched by the wildfire. With proper equipment and registration, climbing is allowed here.
This sport isn't for me. But it is for Tina's Picstory theme of "G" this week (Garden of the Gods), and also part of Our World Tuesday.
The fire is all but out and Colorado Springs is open for business - please visit our lovely city! Almost all the tourist attractions are again open and running on a summer schedule, the major exception being the Flying W Ranch which was burned to the ground.
Such an awesome place and terrific captures, Al! I do admire people who can climb! I'm too old now and was always too chicken, but what a sight it must be! So glad the fires are out and that life there can get back to normal -- whatever that is, I'm not sure what it is in Seattle, but at least right now we're having gorgeous weather!

So thankful the fire is out, and I a agree with you that sport is not for me, anything too high and I'm out, but it is a pretty view
ReplyDeletethis looks like a LOT of fun... i'd love to go rock climbing one day. i was fortunate enough to be in the right place one day to go rappelling. that was way cool. if i can do rappelling then i could have a go at rock climbing. so glad to hear the fires are out and tourism is back up and running. have a great day...
ReplyDeleteGreat shots - dizzying!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad to hear that there was no damage to this beautiful place.
ReplyDeleteFantastic shots. I would love to do that kind of climbing but it wouldn't be possible for me physically at this point.
ReplyDeleteI haven't done any climbing for years but I clearly remember the feeling of terror coupled with exhiliration. Nothing like it. Fantastic photos.
ReplyDeleteWonderful climbing shots from a great place. Glad that the fire is out.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you that sport is not for me either.
I'm glad the fire is out.
Wish you a wonderful summer.

Not for me either, now. Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
ReplyDeleteI too admire people who can do this. I'm not one of them and I have no desire to try it myself. Great shots!
ReplyDeleteNice place, but happy that iam not ther!

I don't think I would like doing that climbing either, but I bet my middle son would. Glad the fire is out - lots of scary fires this summer.
ReplyDeleteI went to the Garden when I visited COS in 1984 - the balancing rock was amazing and the red hue of those rocks were neat this Northeasterner, where the rocks al seem to be gray. The formations are unique and so beautiful!
ReplyDeletegreat shots! it´s so funny, i wanted to make a post with the same topic: garden of gods. i have to think about something different now :)
