Early Summer at Sesame Canyon

To get my mind away from the snow we're finally getting (hooray!), I'm going back to this past June for a hike up Sesame Canyon. It starts by going up a dirt road for half a mile, next to and over this stream.
A trail to the side quickly starts to climb up a canyon.
Soon there's a beautiful meadow.
But the trees quickly close in again as the canyon narrows.
Near the top are some lovely rock formations.
And of course, one of my favorite things about hiking in Colorado, the views, this time towards the city of Colorado Springs!
As it's relatively low altitude, it makes a good early summer hike as the snow will be melted off. For more scenic beauty, visit the Scenic Weekends meme.

  4. Nice! I always like to find out about great 'relatively low-altitude' hikes in Colorado for when we visit there. (Small chance that way that I could actually do the hike!).

  13. Good morning Al!

I have water service on my house
but we have also on my backyard a tower with a water tank on top to supplement the water of the house, the pool, etc.
I did a post about birds that landed on the top of the water tank, in November 15, 2005 and you can see it here:
    Caraúna.

I think I will repeat this post soon.
    Have a good week ahead.

  15. What a great walk you have showed here. Seeing a big city when you are somewhere so quiet can give you a feeling of smugness of not being there. I know it would me! Great photos of a lovely place.
