Hiking Socks

My favorite little hiking companion, our 6-pound (2.7 kg) dog Socks will hike for miles with me. Here he is looking a little tired at the top of Mount Herman on a summer day.
When he sees me getting my hiking stuff ready he gets very excited. If I get out my backpack the night before, the next morning he won't leave my side until he's in the car! Here he is on the Thomas Trail, a steep one where he has to scramble up rocks.
He's a great little companion, and a perfect subject for the Pets Forever meme, as well as the Camera Critters meme.

  1. He looks so HAPPY!! And I'm happy for both of you!! Sam isn't doing well and I'm afraid we're approaching that time that no pet lover wants to see coming. Have a great weekend, Al, give Socks a pat for us.

  2. What a cute little guy! My dog Bear is the same way. He absolutely loves hiking and sticks to me like glue if he sees me getting my backpack out.

  17. Socks is SO cute. And it's great to have a hiking companion.
I love your shot of the Capilano Suspension Bridge in my old stomping grounds. Not that I ever walked across it (paralyzing fear of heights) but North Vancouver is one of the places I lived in my 50+ years as a British Columbian. Now I live on the prairie in Alberta. I might walk on a bridge across the South Saskatchewan River, but, then again, I might not.
Nice to see you and Socks at Pet Pride, and you've reminded me I didn't post to Camera Critters this weekend.
