Here are some photos from last summer of a trail that leads to an abandoned settlement. It starts next to a mountain road.
It climbs and climbs.
Eventually the trail almost disappears.
But of course Socks is always happy to come along!
This is my entry for Scenic Weekends.

California Flowers
It's Memorial Day here in the United States, and here are some flowers for it. Thanks to all the men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
These were taken at the Fuller Arboretum near Los Angeles last week. There's lots more photos to come from this vacation. I'm linking this to Our World Tuesday, and to Tina's PicStory whose theme this week is May Flowers.

Washington Skies
A couple of weeks ago I posted some photos from a hike in Washington State. Here are a couple more photos from that hike. First here's a moss-covered tree with a little snow, in some glorious sunshine.
And here's one looking straight up through those tall Washington pine trees.
These seemed right for Skywatch Friday.

Madurodam
This is an old scanned slide (1976) from Madurodam, taken when I was growing up in Holland. I've posted a photo from here once before.
It's an impressive miniature village - as you can see the detail on the buildings is incredible. It's my entry for Vintage Weekly.

Snowy Rattlesnake Ledge Trail
Back in March we were in the Seattle area to visit family. We went for a little hike in the mountains west of the city, on a trail that leads to Rattlesnake Ledge. It had snowed the night before, and it made for a uniquely beautiful hike in the rain forest.
The snow and moss-covered trees were an unusual combination.
The trees in this part of the world are so different from the dry pine forests where I live.
It was so damp that the lens started to fog up, which made for a couple of interesting photos.
This is part of Our World Tuesday, and certainly qualifies for the weekly theme of "beautiful" over at Tina's PicStory.

Winter Trees, Different States
Going back to the winter, here are some Skywatch Friday views through trees. First, the warm Florida sunshine.
Next, the cool Colorado sunshine.
Since I'm originally from England, I can't get enough blue skies!

Haringvliet
As you may know, I spent ten years in Holland as a child, and even then enjoyed taking photographs. Holland has built many protections against the sea and floods, and this one in Haringvliet is one of them.
This is a scanned slide from 1976 (or possibly 1975), and it's my entry for Vintage Weekly. It's also a very wet part of Our World.

Thomas Trail
From last summer, here are some photos of the Thomas Trail, near Green Mountain Falls. In places it's quite exposed.
But it's pretty and passes along a couple of streams.
The contrast of rocks and greenery is pleasant.
And it has waterfalls, waterfalls, and more waterfalls!
It's my first Scenic Weekends post in too long.
