There are a series of church missions that range up California, and I visited a couple of them when we were there this summer. Over the next few weeks I plan to post several photos from the San Fernando Mission, in the Los Angeles area. First are some photos of its church - after all, that's one of the fundamentals of any mission.
If you're in the area, I recommend a visit to this mission, as it's beautiful and very nicely restored. It's my entry for Our World Tuesday.
Superb captures of a lovely church, Al!! The detail is awesome! Hope you've had a great weekend and ready for a new week!! Give Socks a pat for me!

Beautiful interiors of the church.
ReplyDeleteIt is beautifully done; I am so glad that these missions are being restored and cared for... a great part of our history that it would be a shame to lose.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed visiting many missions on a trip my husband and I made driving up the CA coast from San Diego to San Francisco. This one looks spectacular!
ReplyDeleteSo very gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteOh my this is magnificent! We will be in California in March, will have to see if we can get here.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos Al! I live just a couple of miles from one of the more famous missions (San Juan Capistrano). There are only a few that I haven't visited at some point in my life. Almost all of them are beautiful. There are also a ton of what they call "sub-missions." They aren't as big or ornate, but still nice to see.
ReplyDelete.............
What is probably most interesting about the missions are their individual and collective histories. Much good and bad in those histories.
Outstanding! «Louis» hasn't seen this mission.
ReplyDeleteHe posted HERE about Mission San Juan Bautista.
Gorgeous photos of this Church!
ReplyDeleteI would love to know San Fernando Mission and LA too!
