To all those who celebrate it, Happy Thanksgiving. Until we moved to the United States, we had never heard of it, but here it's a major holiday, with most companies giving employees a four-day weekend. It's a time to spend with family and friends, and to give thanks for our blessings. I don't have a themed photograph for it, but since this is a photo blog here's a 1986 photo of Mount Rainier scanned from an old slide.
Lovely shot Al, he looks like he has a lenticular hat on. I'd love to know where you hail from.
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving whether you slaughter a turkey or not.
Yes, we don't celebrate Thanksgiving in Africa (Christmas is big and celebrated on 25 December) but Thanksgiving looks like a nice celebration. Christmas has become commercialized in the First World Countries. Fortunately we live in Third World East Africa so it will be dinner with friends, at midday around the pool. I love your photo of Mt Rainier. Have a great day and Happy Thanksgiving to you. Greetings Jo (Tanzania)

ReplyDeleteAs a Canadian, we had our Thanksgiving in October. We are in Florida at the moment for American Thanksgiving and find it amazing that people wish each other Happy Thanksgiving. But then there's the whole Black Friday shopping that is ridiculous to me.

ReplyDeleteHe thanks you for your kind comments at his Gearhead Tuesday post. If yo are interested in Packards, he recently completed this series about the marque.
«Louis» forgot to mention that he has previously written about the Plymouth XNR. It has a very interesting history, including having been owned for a time by the Shah of Iran.
