For the last of my series on the U.S.S. Iowa, we'll start by looking inside her armored bridge. Look at the depth of the armor plating, visible in the small window on the left.
I was intrigued by this series of doors.
And finally, here's a look at the mess, where crew members would eat.
Those ships never fail to amaze me!! So much in so little actual space!! Great shots for the day as always, Al!! Hope your week is off to a good start!! Give Socks a pat for me!!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos, Al! I never been before inside a ship. Yes, the series of doors are amazing. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWow! That armor plating is so thick!
ReplyDeleteThose doors (hatches) would be a problem for me. I have a tendency to trip over things.
Nice photos Al!
Great shots from inside the ship. I had visited long back a ship parked in Buffalo.

ReplyDeleteI really like your door photo. It's all very interesting!
ReplyDeleteRemarkable ship with a long history - I do like the perspective shot down the doors.

Love that shot of the doors!
ReplyDeleteThe doors make a wonderfully interesting picture. Where is the Iowa now (where you saw it)? On our 2010 trip 'up East' we toured a submarine in Groton (Connecticut? I think). I have to go read my own blogpost to see where and what it was exactly. Those small spaces just amazed me.
ReplyDeleteI`ve seen too many scary movies I guess, cause the doors spooked me out.. :D
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing these special pictures :)
Wow--it looks so cramped and small...can you imagine? I love the colors they used, the look of space and machinery.
