Zeelandbrug (Zeeland Bridge)

Another of my shots from 1970s Holland, this is the Zeeland Bridge, a little over 5 km (3 miles) long.

For Skywatch Friday, here are a couple of blue-and-white skies taken during a hike in Fox Run Park.

Stanley Canyon Part II

Finishing up my series on Stanley Canyon, the trail can be quite steep at times, even a little challenging.
Yes, the trail leads over the rock outcropping in this next photo (lean to the right if you're uncomfortable). Socks had no trouble, he just scrambled right up (and down on the way back).
The wildflowers were pretty.
At the top is a reservoir, but it was almost empty when we were there.
This photo shows a view back down the narrow canyon.
And here's another view.

Canyon Socks

Here's Socks at the top of Stanley Canyon, proud of having climbed it. (This hike was before we got Laika or she'd be proud too.)

Foggy 1WTC

These photos were taken last time I was in New York City, when One World Trade Center was nearing completion.

Summer Stanley Canyon

Here are some photos to remind me of summer - a hike up the Stanley Canyon trail, which starts on the Air Force Academy.
The trail winds up a narrow canyon by a stream, which was nearly dry when we were hiking.
Near the top it opens up into meadows.
It's a very pretty hike, and I'll have more photos from it next week.

Zierikzee

From back in 1977 when I lived in Holland, here's a photo over the rooftops of Zierikzee.

Seattle Buildings

Here's a Skywatch Friday photo from Seattle last year, taken with a point-and-shoot on a very brief trip. I do love that city!

Northport & Dogs

Northport is another pretty town on the North Shore of Long Island, near New York City; we spent a couple of hours there last time I was in the area.
This is where I photographed the gull.
I love being near the water - ironic since I live so far from it!
And to round out this post, here's a photo from Saturday after a little hike (the weather has been summer-like this weekend) - when we got back in the car I took a quick shot of my happy little hiking buddies.

Mill Pond

Taken at the same location as the harbor photo looking towards Connecticut, this is the Centerport Mill Pond, on Long Island, in the distant suburbs of New York City. It's a very pretty area to take a stroll. In that post I was asked whether the photo was taken in summer, but this trip was actually in mid November.
