Mount Sherman (1)

In Colorado, there are over 50 mountains higher than 14,000 feet (4,267 meters). These are called 14ers, and people love to climb them. For Vintage Weekly, here's the first of a series from 1997 when I climbed Mount Sherman, elevation 14,036 feet (4,278 meters). Mount Sherman is a popular first 14er as it's a relatively short and easy trail - six to eight miles (10 - 13 km) round trip depending on where you park. The building is an abandoned mine.
