Labor Day Lift Off

Labor Day is celebrated the first Monday in September here in the USA, and for many years there has been a balloon festival in my city over the long weekend (The Colorado Springs Balloon Classic). It looked like last year would be the final one as the organizers chose not to continue it, but fortunately another group stepped in and this year we celebrated the first Labor Day Lift Off!
There were literally dozens of beautiful and unique hot-air balloons lifting off early in the morning.
It's one of my favorite local events every year and I'm glad it's continuing.

  1. Oh, how FUN!!! I'm so glad they are celebrating this way again this year!!! I do love the balloons!! One of the greatest memories I have is of the balloon ride my daughter took me on one summer when I visited her in California!! Glorious!!! Have a great day, Al, and give the doggies a pat for me!!

  3. Hi Al, A balloon festival is a photographer's dream! I attended the one in New Mexico several years ago and have thousands of photos. In fact, I think I recognize some of those balloons! Raining here today - we can use the moisture.

  13. My husband and I stayed a few days at the Broadmoor Hotel and the day we left we could see the balloons on the horizon, Al. I'd love to come back next year to see more of it.
