Ferry in Maine

Here are some more photos from our ferry ride in Portland, Maine last summer, focusing on the boats we saw.
I've always loved being on the water.
I'd love to own one of these boats!
And for something completely different, I was amused by this sign in Massachusetts. Are you allowed to read or not? (It's not a great shot as it was taken from a car at twilight; I edited it to take out a period after the "NO".)

  1. Ah, I do love boats and the water -- as only someone born and raised in West Texas can!!! Terrific captures as always, Al!! Hope you have a great new week!!

  2. Ha, ha! I like the "Reading, NO Reading" sign! Here in Oregon, we have a sign for an exit to the towns of Boring and Oregon City. It reads - you guessed it - "Boring, Oregon City". :)

  3. You could own a boat. I've noticed that most of them are for sale. That is a funny sign. "No Reading" must refer to drivers with cell phones.

  4. Of course you know how we love the water and boats; so of course I loved this post. (I wish one of those boats was mine too -- we have been boatless this season, because ours is in the 'hospital'.... it happens. OUr mechanic works on Florida time; in his opinion there is no such word as hurry.

You also may know from visiting FullTime-Life that I enjoy silly and/or inexplicable signs, but this one here takes the cake. What the heck? Are there two towns named Reading and No ..oh wait a minute maybe in meant North Reading? Could that be? Oh well, it is funnier without an explanation anyway!!

  5. Wonderful photography of Maine ~ you do capture the essence of Maine ~ And as for the sign I lived in Reading (pronounced Redding) for 20 odd years and stepson lives in NReading (redding) ~ so I chuckled as I used to think the same thing as a child ~plus you seem to be capturing my 'old haunts' ~ Great post!

Wishing you a Happy Week ^_^

  11. water has its great attraction in our hearts and in my imagination i often enjoy a journey in a huge Titanic like ship where i can meet the real sea ,encountering with huge waves which's sound seem like music of silence and ,create the feeling of thrill and adventure ,

    have a blessed day
