I'm back after a few days in New York City for work. I played tourist in the evenings, and when I was on the subway I noticed this stop; it seemed interesting after Prince's untimely passing a couple of weeks ago; it's even got the right color tiles.
I don't find the New York subway system to be full of scenic photo opportunities, but it took me to places that were. More on those later...
I know Prince Street. I also know the NYC subway system too well--lol. It certainly is not very scenic although there are some stops where the city made an effort to renew the tiles with scenic ones that describe the area above.
ReplyDeleteThe Prince Street name in NYC dates back to when the Dutch still owned Manhattan Island. It is a direct translation from the original Dutch into English done in the 18th Century. The name only makes us think of Prince, the musician.
ReplyDeleteYes, the sign for Prince St. is certainly the right color!
ReplyDeleteLovely lines to these shots.
ReplyDeleteLove that they used purple tiles! I loved that sign, but agree with you that with the subway (as with air travel for that matter) the voyage is obviously not as great as the destination(s) and I look forward to seeing some of those.
ReplyDeleteTerrific sign.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos, Al!
ReplyDeleteI would love to know New York City...
I have never been to NYC, but I enjoyed visiting the state (Rochester area)
ReplyDeleteHope you are having a great day!
Lea
I searched and found a sign warning about rats and that was because David Letterman used to complain about the proliferation of rats in the subway.

Creative shots ~ you captured the 'creativity' in the underground ~
ReplyDeleteHappy Week to you ~ ^_^
Interesting travel photos you have here! Looking forward to seeing more of them. Inspires me to travel more :)
ReplyDeleteI'll be looking forward to more photos of NYC, Al. I haven't visited in a long time.
ReplyDeleteVery interesting! Maybe someday, I'll get there...
