Balloons!
The first weekend of September there's a hot-air balloon festival in Colorado Springs every year. I didn't make it to this year's festival but here a few leftover photos from last year's liftoff.
Great photos! We have a balloon festival here the weekend after next, I am looking forward to going out with my camera. A few Christmases ago (slightly off topic) I went into town and walked round a corner to come face to face with Darth Vader. The council had hired someone to wear a costume and he was outside the comic shop entertaining the children. It literally stopped me in my tracks. Before my mind had time to register that this was actually a fictitious character and also a man in a suit my instincts told me to turn back. My reaction amused me greatly. I saw the original films as a child and the impact he had has clearly stayed in my mind on some level. I did however turn back and go the other way :0)
I keep forgetting CO Springs hosts a balloon fest. Once upon a time, we had balloons here, too, but the high altitude apparently wasn't conducive for getting them high enough.
Thanks for visiting and leaving a comment - I love reading them and look forward to viewing your blog. If you only allow Google+ comments I won't be able to leave a comment in return.
I'd love to see this someday.
