Central California Coast

Here is some of the shoreline near the Avila Sea Caves, my topic for last week's Our World Tuesday post.

It's a very beautiful area and I have always enjoyed visiting it.

It's not as crowded as Southern California.

Of course people always like being near the sea!

Avila Sea Cave

Near Avila Beach in central California is an interesting cave.

Looking in the other direction you can see some very expensive-looking houses.

And looking down it's wavy!

Here's the first of a handful of photos from Washington, DC back in 1990 when I lived in the area. I remember taking these photos - a group of coworkers and I went down to the cherry blossoms during lunch hour.

Fox Run Tree

I always love taking the dogs to Fox Run Park, and I can often find a fun shot there for Skywatch Friday. This recent one was taken with my 6.5mm fisheye lens.

Avila Beach, Central California

The last time I was in central California I spent a couple of hours exploring the area around Avila Beach.

I always love being near the ocean and I'll miss having an excuse to visit this area.

I'll still be able to look back on my photos.

We had snow at our house on Monday, but I'm not going to show you that (it's sunny and warm again now). Instead, this shot was taken with my cellphone while walking the dogs on another recent morning.

Colorado Autumn

While fall in Colorado doesn't have the spectacular variety of the East Coast, we do get the golden aspen trees.

These photos were taken on a local hike a few days ago.

Fall in Colorado is one of my favorite times of year. And it means ski season is just around the corner!

Mount Vernon 1990 (1)

George Washington's plantation house, Mount Vernon, is open to the public. The first time I saw it was back in 1990 when I lived in the DC area, and here's an old scanned slide from that visit.

Aspen!

It's that time of year, and bright aspen against a blue, autumn Colorado sky makes for a fine Skywatch Friday shot. This one was taken on a Sunday hike with my 6.5mm ultrawide fisheye lens.

Morro Rock

From last week's long-distance shots of Morro Rock (apparently I misspelled it last week as there's no 'w' on the end), here are shots taken up at the rock itself.

It's a volcanic plug, and quite impressive.

And even on a cold, stormy day like the one when I visited, the California surfers were doing there thing!
