For Skywatch Friday, here's a shot of the basilica at Mission San Carlos Borromeo de Carmelo.
And one more from the same mission.
I had a couple of questions as to why Copper Mountain (and most of the other Colorado ski resorts) close when there's still so much snow. It's a simple matter of economics - tourists don't plan ski trips this late in the season so it's mostly locals. And that won't pay the costs of running a resort.
Beautiful pics.
ReplyDeleteRunning a resort is not that easy.
ReplyDeleteI have seen in our area often the shop gets changed...
Love the clean, white bell tower!
ReplyDeleteI like that design.
ReplyDeleteLooks like one of the prettier missions. I've never been to that one. Thanks for the explanation about the ski resorts in CO. So different here in CA... they try to get as many days in as possible. In good years, there's a 4th of July race at Mammoth!
ReplyDeleteLovely to see the whitewashed dome against that blue sky!
ReplyDeleteLovely sky shots Al.
ReplyDeleteHello, love the tower and mission. Happy Friday, enjoy your day and weekend!
ReplyDeletePerfect accent (and pointer) to the beautiful blue sky. Thank you for the explanation about why the Mountain closes. I understand now (though it's too bad for the locals).
ReplyDeleteWhen I was in 4th grade a year or 50+ ago, my parents took me to all of the California missions. - Margy
ReplyDeleteYou've captured such a spectacular blue sky!

It looks like that mission has seen a lot of history in it's time.
ReplyDeleteThat was interesting about the ski resorts. Never thought about it.
