Mission San Carlos Borromeo de Carmelo (1)

When in California I love to visit the old missions that run along the whole state. This post features some outside shots of Mission San Carlos Borromeo de Carmelo, near Monterey. It is the only California mission to have it's original bell tower.
It's a beautifully preserved set of buildings with a lovely courtyard.
Covered walkways always catch my eye.
What a peaceful place.
For those interested, it's very much worth a visit.

  1. What a beautiful place to visit, it always looks like a movie set. The photo of that covered walkway has a wonderful depth.

  3. There is something about walking along those covered walkways that immediately makes you feel as if you were living back in the day when the Mission was built! This is a beautiful one -- it's been oh so very long since we've done that'trail' .... but I don't think this is one we visited.
