Glass Sculpture

As I was trying to find a photo to use for this week's theme of "glass" on Tina's PicStory, I realized that this one was perfect, and it's also a very cool part of Our World!
This astounding glass sculpture is suspended above a shopping area, in a building which also houses Microsoft, in Bellevue, Washington. The photo doesn't show the amazing scale of the glass. I wish I could find more information about this sculpture but I'm not having any luck.

  1. Hi Al. Isn't it amazing what some people can do with glass.
This looks like a Dale Chihuly sculpture. We have his stuff in Israel too.

  7. Definitely Chihuly! And his pieces are pretty magnificent. Glass is so hard to photograph but I think you did a good job.

  10. From a distance it reminds me of colorful spaghetti but from closer it makes me think of rainbows of crushed glass. What amazing art! There is no end to the differing angles one could photograph if able to get near enough. :)

  13. Looks like others have the idea of Cale Chihuly, too. But I bet no one spelled it like I did when I did a search...I wasn't even close!

    Love the vivid colors!♥♫

  15. Great photo, great sculpture, but I'd hate to have to be the one that takes a feather duster to it to dust it!

  18. Browsing through my blog list, I first thought it was a headdress but I was wrong after reading the rest of your post. Was the mall running a theme week? It's beautiful.

  19. So unusual and so beautiful.
I am delighted to be joining in the meme this week. I hope to do so on a more regular basis as for the first time it is from my own photography blog.

  20. Fredirick Meijers Sculpture and Garden Park here in Michigan has this too. But this one is has more colorful and yes I agree with you when it is photograph it doesn't show much of the beauty. In person, I am always in awe with the beauty and design of this piece. This is really beautiful!
Thanks for the visit. Happy Tuesday!

  21. The glass seems to be a difficult medium to work with. I assume that each 'strand' of this material has to be formed when it is hot. Best left to an artist instead of a amateur! Gorgeous sculpture!

  22. amazing indeed...some people create magic with some very difficult stuff like glass, ice and such!

Al, I am posting a lot of old photos. Your Sunday Scan meme, does it have to be Sunday?

  25. I've never seen a Dale Chihuly sculpture in person, but would love to! Even photos have made me fall in love with his work.

You don't know how gratifying your comment was to me. I stopped blogging — permanently, I thought — because it suddenly seemed so trivial against all the awful news around the world. Then a friend said she thought the Philippines needed another voice — no matter how small — to tell the world that it's not all corruption, atrocities, and disasters in the Philippines. Your comment matched what she said so I guess coming back was right.
