Vancouver's Olympic Cauldron at Night

Coming up with a yellow post for this week's PicStory meme, as well as for this week's Our World Tuesday post, I'm returning to Vancouver. This time it's the Olympic Cauldron at night. The lights change color, and as best as I can tell the second shot caught it when it was yellow. (I'm not very good with colors so don't blame me if it's not quite yellow, as I have particular trouble with yellow and green.)

  1. Terrific capture, Al, and the colors are fantastic! I love the yellow/green -- I think it is a little of both! Hope you have a great week!

  5. My English is not at all as good as i used to be and I tried to look "cauldron" up but didn't find it. Anyway I think your photos are very good and they have the right colours blue and yellow ;)

  6. I had the good fortune to get a photograph of the cauldron, too! I love your perspective, though, and how it reflects in the water. The second shot if very unique, indeed, reminding me of solid gold and the challenges athletes had to endure to win it in a medal. :)

  8. Bold angles! As a painter, I know at least 6 different yellows, so you're in the range of yellow:):)
Just to alert you, my reply to your comment on my post about "For Heroes" is out of sequence -sorry!

  10. The blue one is gorgeous. I recognized it immediately as the Olympic cauldron on your thumbnail photo.
The second is definitely yellow, but with touches of green, especially on the left of the photo.
Nice shots. Thanks! I worked in Vancouver for many years.

  12. The decorations of an olympic venue have been captured well here! Unique shapes and colors, and that yellow looks almost like gold. Cool!

I was in Los Angeles in the Summer of 1984, and the pomp was there, the decorations (and gifts to purchase) of Sam the Eagle were everywhere. But the unique nature of the games were events to remember!

  14. The Cauldron is a nice reminder of what happened in that Olympics and in the city. Color changes according to the conditions especially at night. In the second photo, color looks gold or metallic yellow, the one in the shadow is green.

  15. The colors are great. The golden yellow really shines. We need to go back to Vancouver... it's been way too long since we've crossed that border.

  17. Great shots, and no trouble with the colours as the second shot is mainly yellow, fading into green.

    Cheers!

  18. It makes a beautiful display in both colors. On my screen your second shot is a lovely golden yellow with just a touch of green, you did great!

  20. Cool capture! It looks almost as gold to me and the texture.. Love it!

  21. Both images are impressive. The yellow one looks gold on my monitor with a bit of green patina in the background. In any case, along with the texture, it's stunning!
