It's fall, and although I haven't made it into the mountains yet, they will soon look like this.

Independence Pass (October 1995)

Near Aspen, a road goes over Independence Pass, topping out at an elevation of 12,095 feet (3,687 meters) above sea level. If I remember correctly, this photo is a slide taken near the top back in October of 1995.

For a Vintage Weekly and Scenic Weekends post, I'm going back to the fall of 1995 when I was camping near the town of Aspen, Colorado. It's a scanned slide, and there are several more beauties to come from this trip.

Aspen, June 1995

We're back in our house and everything's fine, we suffered no losses. Many weren't so lucky as almost 500 homes were burned in the wildfire. Rain Friday afternoon was a big help, and we're getting a little more rain now. Many thanks to those who sent thoughts and prayers this way.

Here's an old scanned slide from 1995 for this week's Skywatch Friday entry. It's near the famous town of Aspen as the clouds cleared at the end of a small snowstorm.

I'm going back to October 1995 for this week's Skywatch Friday entry. It's an old scanned slide, taken one morning while camping not far from the town of Aspen when I woke up to fresh snow and a nearly-collapsed tent.

But the beauty was worth it, and I have more scans to post soon from this trip.
