Here's a Skywatch Friday photo from Seattle last year, taken with a point-and-shoot on a very brief trip. I do love that city!

EMP Museum Exterior

This is the last of my photos from our trip to Seattle earlier this year. I loved the play of the shadows on the exterior of the EMP Museum.

It's an obvious choice for Shadow Shot Sunday, and of course I'm linking it to Our World Tuesday.

Chihuly Glass

Near the Space Needle in Seattle is the Chihuly Garden & Glass exhibit. Although we didn't go in, I took these photos from outside the hedge that surrounds the exhibition.

The glass works are incredible, even seen from a distance.

They are very intricate.

And they're my entry to Our World Tuesday this week, as well as Blue Monday for those fabulous blue Seattle skies.

Seattle Waterfront

From a spring trip to Seattle, here are a couple of photos of the waterfront. I liked this railing.

The Ferris Wheel was new since last time we were there.

Seattle Market Signs

Here are some of my favorite signs from the famous Public Market in Seattle, from our trip back in March. First, the famous sign on a clear day, from a different angle than usually seen.

Seattle Duck Ride

While we were in Seattle back in March we rode one of those amphibious ducks. They start on land, then go into one of the lakes.

I always like a city skyline seen from the water.

And the views of an old gasworks, now a park, are unusual.

Washington Flowers

Guess Where I've Been

I just got back from visiting relatives. If you don't know where this is, just look at the labels below the post. But it's a pretty distinctive landmark so you can probably guess!

Both photos were taken on Saturday, but I'm back in Colorado again. I'm linking this post to Our World Tuesday, as well as to Tina's PicStory as this week's theme is March Flowers. We had a little of every type of weather while we were there - sun, rain, and snow, so there are lots of varied photos to come.

Helicopters in Seattle

I found these last couple of photos left over from last year's trip to Seattle. These were taken along the waterfront, catching some type of rescue training by the Coast Guard.

It was probably more interesting to see in person than the photographs show. But it's my post for Our World Tuesday, and it does capture the classic grey Seattle skies (it was raining at the time).

Here's a quick wildfire update. 17,827 acres have burned, 346 homes burned, and 2 people lost their lives. I still can't get back into my office building but I consider myself lucky. Containment is at 55%. Hopefully the worst is over for the fire, but there are a lot of people who have lost everything.

OMG Grade Pears

I'm going back to last May for these shots from Seattle. These are from the famous market, and cover several memes. First, they're for Our World Tuesday.

Lots of flowers were for sale.

Seafood too, tastefully arranged!

And for Tina's PicStory theme of fruits, as well as the Signs Signs meme, here are some incredible pears, as well as ordinary apricots and cherries.

We always visit this market when we're in the Seattle area.

Grey Waterfront Fountain

Here's another grey-sky shot from our Seattle trip. This is Waterfront Fountain, in Waterfront Park, in Seattle. For some reason, the F-shape makes me think of Facebook, even though I'm one of the few people on the planet who doesn't use it. And yes, this was taken in the rain, as were many of my Seattle photos this spring.

Seattle Skies

Here's a wet Skywatch Friday entry - looking up through a glass ceiling at the cloudy Seattle skies while we were on vacation there a couple of weeks ago. These skies were a common feature while we were there, but we enjoyed ourselves anyway. I'm also entering this into Watery Wednesday, as I think it qualifies!

Seattle Docks At Night

For My World Tuesday, I'm posting the last of the Seattle shots from February, taken on our last evening there. We ate an enjoyable meal at a well-known seafood place,and I took this shot of their sign as we left.

There were a fair number of people out enjoying the surprisingly pleasant weather.

But I found that as soon as we were off the main street near the water, it quickly started to feel deserted, not a place to hang around. This final shot was taken on the way back to the car.

I'm sure we will be visiting Seattle again since we've got family there. In the meantime, I know that some participants of My World Tuesday live there, so click on the link and you'll see more shots from Seattle and around the world.

Scenic Sunday - Ferry to Seattle

I'm just about out of scenic Seattle pictures, but here are some from the ferry ride from Bainbridge back to Seattle in the late afternoon. As you leave the dock Seattle is visible in the distance, partly obscured by the island.

Mount Rainier is visible in the far distance, although it was somewhat obscured by the atmosphere on this day.

Seattle draws closer until it fills the view.

I can't recommend strongly enough taking this ferry if you're visiting Seattle as it's a very inexpensive way to get a great view of the city and surrounding area. I also can't recommend enough visiting the Scenic Sunday blog as it's full of links to beautiful and varied photographs from around the world.

Scenic Sunday - Bainbridge

While we were in the Seattle area, we spent a few hours on Bainbridge Island. My favorite part was the small harbor and beach.

The town itself was pretty.

And here's the restaurant at which we had an excellent Mexican meal.

Scenic Sunday - Seattle Pioneer Square

Right in the heart of the oldest part of Seattle is the beautiful Pioneer Square. It's not that large but it's very attractive, with a small park, a couple of old trees, and a few man-made attractions. Here are a few pictures of it for Scenic Sunday.

Nearby is the Smith Tower, a top view of which I posted back on March 13. Here it is from the ground.
