High Line Sunset

While I was in New York I walked the High Line park, an unusual park that runs along an old elevated railroad line. Here's a shot I took just before the sun set. I've got several more posts to come from here.

Horsethief Park Hike (1)

One of my favorite areas to hike is Horsethief Park, on the back of Pikes Peak. It's an hour from the house so it's not one I go to that often; these photos are from last summer. Right where it starts is an old railroad tunnel, which was then used for the road with traffic lights since it was one lane, and is now abandoned and closed off.

The trail winds uphill through beautiful forest.

I love the long shadows cast by the tall trees.

In one place there's a beaver pond next to the trail.

This trail ends up at a pretty waterfall.

Of course I had my dogs with me, and silly Laika got completely tangled in her leash. She doesn't usually do that! I've got another set of photos from this hike that I'll post in a few days.

Green Empire State Building

On one of the days when I was in New York City recently, the Empire State Building was lit in green.

I love night photography in New York, it's a great city for it.

Prince Street

I'm back after a few days in New York City for work. I played tourist in the evenings, and when I was on the subway I noticed this stop; it seemed interesting after Prince's untimely passing a couple of weeks ago; it's even got the right color tiles.

I don't find the New York subway system to be full of scenic photo opportunities, but it took me to places that were. More on those later...

Faneuil Hall & Quincy Market (Boston)

Faneuil Hall in Boston is famous because speeches were made there advocating independence from Great Britain.

The original building was completed in 1742 but burned to the ground. It was rebuilt in 1762, and reconstructed in 1898-1899. You can feel the history when you're there.

Nearby is Quincy Market, completed in 1826 and still in use today.

It's a popular place to get food as it's filled with small restaurants.

The dome is probably the most famous part of the building.
