Our big vacation this year was to Japan and South Korea, and I'll be posting lots of photos over the next few months. We arrived in South Korea and flew to Japan the next day. After arriving in Tokyo we took the famous bullet trains to Hiroshima, and here are some photos from that first day's ride through the lovely countryside.
We stopped in several cities but only left the trains to get on another one.
They stopped in cities along the way.
Despite the rain the countryside was beautiful, as it went past at nearly 200 mph (320 kph).

That is an amazing train. Wish we had trains like this here in the U.S. I am surprised your photos did not blur more with the high speed. Looking forward to seeing more from your trip.
ReplyDeleteFine shots and narrative
ReplyDeleteAwesome pics.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know you could really bullet train, that's quite the distance even for such a train
ReplyDeleteWow! I've said before that I never know where I'll find you, but this was totally unexpected! Big vacation for sure... how wonderful. The Bullet Train sounds amazing ... I've heard of it before, but never read about what it was like for "a real person".... wonderful.... looking forward to the more of your trip.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed all your photos Al. I've always wanted to go to Japan.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely! Looking forward to seeing more photos. Japan in autumn or spring is on my bucket list.

At least it is still cold in Japan and Korea, unlike us here in Manila, you are not temperature-shocked! lol. My friends always want going there to both countries for vacations, but i can't join for lack of budget. What a shame!
ReplyDeleteWow, what a wonderful place to visit...and no hiking from one village to another, or driving from one city to another... just hop on one of those amazing high-speed trains and zip-you're-there! (I think I'm envious.)

I look forward to seeing more photos from your trip - and I must say that traveling at 200 mph scares me more than a little!
