Summer is quickly coming to an end where I live. This was the view from my house with a telephoto lens as I left for work on Monday morning - the first real snow on Pikes Peak.

Caesar's Palace (Las Vegas)
From a trip a few months ago, here are some shots of the famous Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas.
It's definitely luxurious with lots of water features.
I love the curved escalators - you don't see these every day.
Of course there's lots of shopping for those so inclined.

Above the Clouds
When we got to the top of Mount Herman, it was amazing to have a sea of clouds below us.
Morning clouds are fairly rare in this part of the world, so this was an unexpected pleasure.
The dogs and I loved this hike, and I thought these photos would be perfect for Skywatch Friday, photos from the sky!

Mount Herman Road
I recently went for a hike up a nearby mountain, Mount Herman. To get to the trailhead you take a dirt road along the side of the mountain, and it started out foggy.
But I climbed out of the clouds, and looking back it was a lovely sight.
This shot more clearly shows you the road where I had been driving a few minutes before.
The trail up the mountain is quite steep in places.
In fact at times it doesn't seem like a trail at all!
Come back in a couple of days and I'll show you some photos from the top. In the meantime visit Our World Tuesday for lots of other views of our incredible world.

Aria, Las Vegas
These photos are from a few months ago when we took a short trip to Vegas. Here's the Aria hotel where we stayed. First, looking out the main entrance.
One of the advertising signs.
Lots of glass...
...and I'm bet that the signs are LED rather than neon.

Textbook Severe Thunderstorm
I was glad this severe thunderstorm passed to our south a few days ago, not over us, as it was dropping tennis-ball sized hail as I took this photo.

WTC Area at Night
When I was walking around the World Trade Center, it was late enough that the memorial was closed, and this was as close as I could get to the famous pools.
It was very peaceful without all the people.
I still find it terrifying and sobering to think of the terrible events that took place here.

Looking Up At One World Trade Center
This is one of my favorite photos from my latest trip to New York City - I wandered around the World Trade Center area after I came down from the top of the building and this was one of the shots I took.

Nighttime World Trade Center Views
Here are my favorite photos from the top of One World Trade Center a few weeks ago; all were taken hand-held through the building's glass. The city lights seem to go on forever.
The classic view is to the north with the Empire State Building standing out.
Every way you look there's something interesting.
As it's on the island of Manhattan there is water in every direction.
To the south is the Upper Bay, at the end of which is the famous Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, seen here. Beyond that is the Lower Bay and finally the Atlantic Ocean.

I hope you enjoyed this little tour for the Our World Tuesday meme.
