Here's a hike up Muscoco Mountain, in another of our incredible city parks. It starts by crossing this stream.
Socks was leading the way up the mountain (this was before we got Laika).
It was steep.
But the views made it all worthwhile.
The mountains seem to go on forever. (The city is in the opposite direction.)
Any way you looked was beautiful.
I always love the pine trees that cover our mountains.
Socks was proud to have made it to the top!
And that's my weekly entry for Our World Tuesday; the blue skies make it a good entry for Blue Monday.

Muscoco Skies
Here are a couple of Skywatch Friday photos from a recent early-morning hike up Muscoco Mountain.
The sun was just coming over the mountain behind me for this second shot.
This hike is within a city park, and I'll have more photos from it another time.

Muscoco Mountain
Since I haven't been able to do much hiking yet this year, here's a couple of photos from a climb up nearby Muscoco Mountain last August, starting with the stream we forded to start.
Socks bravely led the way up the steep trail.
And the reward for all the climbing was this wonderful view!
And that covers my weekly Scenic Sunday post.

Muscoco Mountain
It was an overcast day today, but not a cold one, so I decided to go for a hike. I started on the Mount Cutler Trail, but half way up went off on a different trail that leads towards Muscoco Mountain. This is a much more challenging trail than the Mount Cutler trail, and I wouldn't recommend it for children as there are some places with exposure.
This is the destination, Muscoco Mountain, from well up the trail. The trail circles around to the back and finishes the climb from there.
Here's a view of another trail switchbacking up a steep mountainside.
The trail winds through a pine forest.
Eventually it reaches the top, with some very nice views.
There were some outcroppings near the top that look like quartz.
It made for a very enjoyable morning.
