The top lift in this Skywatch Friday photo is Storm King, and it lived up to its name on this windy day. I was skiing Copper Mountain at about 12,000 feet (3,650 meters) elevation when I took this photo.

Tokyo
After the bullet train ride we arrived in Tokyo. We had a couple of hours before we could check in to our hotel so I wandered from the train station to the Imperial Palace.
While I didn't get inside, the park was still beautiful.
It was a pleasant way to spend some time.
We had a great view from our hotel. Tokyo is huge!
It's the most populated metropolitan area in the world, with over 38,000,000 people.

Friendly Visitor
This friendly creature has wandered right outside my office's windows a couple of times in the last few days. I snapped this with the cell phone and thought it would make a fun Saturday's Critters post.

Shinkansen
The Shinkansen, or bullet trains, are a great way to get around Japan. They're clean, comfortable, and fast (up to 200 mph or 320 kph). They're so smooth that you can't feel the speed at all.
I love looking out the windows and taking photos.
The Japanese countryside is so beautiful as it zooms by.
This train was taking us back to Tokyo and passes the famous Mount Fuji.

Typical Winter Sky
I live in Colorado which is always cold and snowy, right? Actually, it's usually sunny. Here's a typical winter sky from a recent walk in a nearby park when I took the fisheye lens.
We do get snow, but at our relatively low elevation (7,100 feet or 2,164 meters above sea level) it rarely sticks around for long as that bright, warm sun melts it quickly.

Shitennō-ji
Shitennō-ji (四天王寺) is a famous Buddhist temple in Osaka.
Originally built in 593, most of the current buildings are from 1963 when it was rebuilt.
As you'd expect, it's beautiful and peaceful.
Unfortunately, the famous pagoda was surrounded by scaffolding so I posted my only photo of that last week.
We did climb the pagoda but photos weren't allowed inside. Nevertheless this amazing place was a highlight of our visit to Osaka.

Copper!
It's ski season, and so far it's shaping up to be a good one. Since I have a phone I can take photos anywhere!
There's lots of snow in the mountains.
There's nothing like a day on the slopes at Copper Mountain, and getting home in time for dinner!
