SkyWatch Friday - Maroon Bells

I have no interesting new pictures this week, so I thought I'd post an old one. About a year ago, I scanned in all my old slides and prints, and this is a slide from October 1995. It was taken near Aspen when camping in early October. A snow storm moved in, and in the morning the sun broke through, making for some beautiful pictures. Here's one of them.
You can find many more Skywatch Friday pictures here. I expect there will be many snowy pictures this week.

  1. Ah, this reminds me of my winter camping adventures many years ago. Chilly, but fun. Of course we were young...

Beautiful photo. Thank you for sharing it.

  4. Beautiful mountain picture. I love the light highlighting the snowy crags.

When we used to live in Colorado and go camping, we always prepared for "winter" camping - even in summer.

  6. "For purple mountain majesties above the fruited plain", well not purple but certainly beautiful. Hello fellow Long Islander. I grew up in Indiana and whenever one of us guys got access to a car we'd head to Chicago, go to the south side to hear blues (we were the only snowflakes in the crowd) or take in a concert at the Kinetic Playground. Later on I played some venues in Chicago but the KP was gone by then. To make a very long story short, I simply love your photos of the Windy City. They are a wonderful portrayal of Chicago at night and so dramatically rendered. One thing is missing, but it probably isn't there anymore, that would be the Playboy Bunny Beacon on top of the Playboy building. It was a Batman kind of thing. Time marches on. You've got a great blog going here. Nice work!

  7. Beautiful, Al. It does not look 1995. :)

Aspen reminds me of a Jim Carrey movie. :)
