Window Moon

Sometimes I like to experiment with photography - even if the results aren't great, I can learn and become a better photographer. I liked yesterday's Moon as it faded between clouds, and decided to get a photo of it looking through one of my house windows.
I found it very difficult to illuminate the window (which is high and dark) without completely washing out the bright Moon and its surrounding clouds. This might be an example where multiple exposures and HDR processing could help, although I'm not normally a fan of HDR. I don't think this is a particularly successful photo, but it's how I learn, and it's my Skywatch Friday entry for the week.

    It's hard to get a bad shot of a full moon like the one tonight -- I did manage to do just that, but I have yours to look at! And it is gorgeous! I'm excited about starting a photography class at a local college on Saturday. The teacher has had his photos published in National Geographic and has conducted photography tours all over the world. Its for beginners, goes for five weeks with three field trips. Hope to see an improvement in my photography! Hope you have a wonderful weekend, Al!

    I have to admit I like the look, I have a terrible time getting a good picture of the moon. One reason being down here in the low country there are too many obsticial in the way, trees, ect. not alot of open sky here where I'm at. In the fall I love the orange harvest moon only problem, time it gets over the trees it's no longer orange...lol..

    I like this shot as it makes me think you were indoors on a foggy night so that you'd be safe from the presence of werewolves and other "undesirable" creatures!

    We were having a mini blizzard last night, so I didn't see the moon until this morning. According to Remington, (wise Newfie), it was the Wolf Moon. I took some pictures, but I can already tell yours is much better than mine. ♥♫

    I think it's a splendid shot of the full moon. way better than anything I've gotten when I attempt it. I really like how you've framed it and the deep blue is beautiful.

    A couple of editing techniques (PhotoShop Elements) that might bring out more detail of the window: adjust the levels or fill flash.

    Hallo Al,

    I love this idea and have some shots like yours. It was quite difficult, because I had a big bottle in the front. I'm thingking about showing that one the next time.
    You are lucky living in Colorado. Next time I'll take some more time to drive some smaler roads because there is more to see then the touristhighlights.
