The wild animals at Yellowstone are amazing. The Lamar Valley has some great opportunities to see buffalo (they're actually bison), and here are some shots from there. We were lucky enough to find a huge herd.
They weren't afraid of people. Unfortunately, a lot of people weren't afraid of them either, and you should be very careful around these animals, as they are unpredictable and can move remarkably quickly.

ReplyDeleteYou must be have a nice trip!
Happy weekend, anyway... :)
Awesome photos! The buffalo and wildlife at Yellowstone is just wonderful.
ReplyDeleteAnd now we read that the ones who have wandered into Montana are being slaughtered? for carrying a disease?
ReplyDeleteLove your photos - as Sylvia says, brings back memories...
Let's go again!
Al, I hope this url works - it has become one of our favorites to watch the Tetons as the day progresses;

Wonderful shots! I wouldn't get too close though - they are huge!
ReplyDeleteAre they moulting? They look as if their fur has come off...
I love bison & that Yellowstone herd is one of the few great herds left in the US. They are introducing several smaller herds into Texas as way to boost genetic diversity. I am hoping the effort will be successful!
ReplyDeleteGreat sequence of these extraordinary creatures. Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
ReplyDeleteLove your shots, makes me want to go back to Yellowstone as soon as I can, it's been far too long.

ReplyDeleteHave a good sunday!
So interesting post! Oh yes, I would respect those animals! We don't have buffalo or bison in my country, but we have something like those bisons.. (I do not know the name in Eglish..) The Norwegian name is Moskus. And I have seen some of them up in the mountains.. :) Great!
ReplyDeleteThe first photo is stunning! but I like them all. Great post!
ReplyDeleteI would love to see Yellowstone someday -- your photos are great. I would enjoy seeing the buffalo -- at a safe distance! We have some here at Grant's Farm -- the kids and I go in the summers and ride the tram to see them.
ReplyDeleteVisiting via Camera Critters
They are the most gorgeous animals!
ReplyDeleteDo they just roam about on the street? I imagine they look really great up close! :-D

Myriam
wow! that's a lot of buffalo. Very interesting sight. I do agree with you that we must be a little more careful while on the road or getting out of the car there.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice day Al!
Cheers,
Kristin
I really enjoyed the Bison when we were in YellowStone, but I respected them and kept my distance..got some good pictures. There was on family there from Japan and the father kept trying to get close enought to put his little son on one to take a picture. I was scared to death that the Bison was going to hurt the child. Finally the Ranger showed up and made the man move on and warned him not to try anything like that again. One of the cows kept circling her calf and watching him...so dumb.
ReplyDeleteLove your shots.
