Springtime in the Rockies (Blossoms and Snow)

It's springtime in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, which means an incredible variety of weather. It seems early in the year, but suddenly this one type of tree has blossomed all along the front range, in Colorado Springs and Denver. I don't know what type of tree it is, but it's certainly beautiful.
Those photos were taken in downtown Colorado Springs on Sunday, walking around in a t-shirt and shorts. This next photo was taken on Tuesday, at the end of a spring snowstorm.
And this great variety of weather and skies within two days is my entry for Skywatch Friday.

  1. I saw many of the trees in Denver on Sunday as well as many more. No weather surprises me here in Colorado. A coat is always in the car!♥♫

  3. Oh, WOW! the extremes we have seen this year -- from one end of the weather spectrum to the other! That is a gorgeous tree and such beautiful captures, Al! I think I would avoid the snow covered swing set!! Hope your week is going well regardless of what kind of weather you have!!

  4. The weather is fool, in Italy too. I think that this tree could be a cherry.

  21. I thought we had moody weather in BC but this certainly looks impressive. I can see why no one is sliding and the snow is probably not deep enough for sledding. The purity of both blossoms and snow make very pretty pictures, though. :)

  30. It looks like a Bradford Pear, an ornamental both for blossom and stunning autumn leaves.
There's nothing like contrast to add spice to life!

  36. That blossom is beautiful, yes very freaky weather around at the moment, we had some snow last week too. I am hoping the weather will improve here soon though as I am now sick of the cold and wet winter.
