Too Many Miles!

Earlier this summer we helped our daughter move out to California. Here's a photo I took of our navigation unit on the way back, on Interstate 40 in California. It's telling us to stay on this road for the next 658 miles (that's 1059 kilometers for most of the world)!
We had already driven for a couple of hundred miles at that point, and we finished that part of the drive before stopping for the night at a hotel in Albuquerque. And the next day we still had hundreds of miles to go before getting home! In total we drove about 2,700 miles (4,345 kilometers) in 5 days. This post is part of Our World Tuesday. And since there are several triangles (the two most obvious being the one representing the car and the shape of the roads in the Nuvi's screen) and Tina's PicStory theme this week is "triangular" I'm also linking it there.

And as another "too far" photo - my car's odometer just went over 200,000 miles.
That mileage is 321,931 kilometers. And almost all of those miles are over 6,000 feet (1,828 meters) elevation! (In case you're wondering it's a Toyota Corolla and so far has given me very little trouble.)

  3. Good testament for your Toyota! -- And yeah, those GPS miles can make you lose all heart on a long roadtrip! (And it's too many miles away from your daughter too, but we know all about that sort of thing. And good for her for making the big move, but it's hard on us sometimes!)

  4. You could do a commercial for Toyota! Not many cars could have that much mileage and still be navigable. Glad you're safely back home.

  6. Hi Al, I have a feeling with a daughter in CA, you'll be putting even more miles on the Corolla!

  7. L--O--N--G trip!! I think 3 hours is far enough to drive. Good thing I don't want to travel much! When my daughter and I drove to Taos, I stopped in Denver to get her (1 1/2 hours), then we went to Colorado Springs, stopped. On to some town south of Pueblo where we had to go west. Stopped in San Luis, then a long drive to Taos!! A relatively short trip took us most of the day. We enjoyed it all, though.

Reliable cars are a great thing.♥♫

  8. We have a pickup with 265 thousand....it still runs, but we sure don't take it any farther than 10 miles from the house....and have a cell phone with us at all times. LOL

  9. That's a lot of miles for five days.
I like the "turn in 658 miles". But having been on that piece of Interstate I understand.

  12. Let's go for Toyota! hehe I'll tell my boyfriend ;) He is fond of more big cars, I do not agree with him..
and corolla I use less petrol, well, might be Toyota in general..?

It's a long way to go.. I can understand you would have one night to stay over, I would have 3-4 nights maybe.. :)
