Country Music Hall of Fame

While we were in Nashville we had to visit the Country Music Hall of Fame.
Even if you're not a country music fan it's got lots of interesting things to see - here's Elvis' famous gold piano.
I'm definitely a fan of Bill Monroe so this was amazing to see.
Here's a very famous costume Gram Parsons wore.
There are walls of gold and platinum records...
...and various exhibits about very famous stars like Merle Travis.

Mountaintop Tree

I found this photogenic tree on top of a little local mountain I climbed with the dogs, elevation a little over 9,000 feet or 2,740 meters above sea level. It had clearly been struck by lightning many years in the past.

Tennessee State Capitol

Here are some photos of the Tennessee State Capitol, located in Nashville.
Completed in 1859 it's an attractive building with lovely grounds.
This night shot was handheld with a telephoto so please excuse its lack of clarity.

Looking back to summer again, this Skywatch Friday photo almost looks like a painting, but it's very real.

Cumberland River

Nashville is situated on the Cumberland River, and there are attractive parks on both sides of the water.
There are various pieces of public art and a footbridge that crosses it, and visitors should spend some time exploring it.

Nashville

Here are some photos taken around Nashville a few months ago. First is a shot on the Bicentennial Capitol Mall.
Next is the Frist Center.
And finally a couple of shots of Union Station, now a hotel.
The interior is very ornate.

Stormy Beach

When I was in California a couple of weeks ago one of the days was rather stormy. Of course that meant I headed to a nearby state park and seaside town to get some photos, and here's one of them.
