For my weekly Skywatch Friday post, here's a post from a hike near Pulpit Rock looking right into the sun.
I always find it a challenge getting something worthwhile shooting directly into the sun, but it can make for some fun.

Oh, what a terrific capture, Al!! I do love your composition and the light! Awesome!! Hope your week is going well!!
ReplyDeleteAnd sometimes (like your photo), you get something good by shooting directly into the sun.
ReplyDeleteI quit my first photography class when the instructor ridiculed my into-the-sun submission. He said I broke one of the cardinal rules of photography. I said it was one of the best photos I've ever taken. I called him an idiot and walked out of the class. I accepted the "F" grade in his class like he'd given me a medal.
Have you been to Lynn Canyon this winter? I don't mind the bridge, it's free and it's for crowds, but i tend to go deeper to the forest. I love when the sun pierces the canopy of trees and you might get this magic feeling as if it wants to show you something. And turning the lens into the beam you get perfect lens flares ,)
ReplyDeleteThat's lovely! The best kind of winter weather...
ReplyDeleteNice shot! And not a lot of snow.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful winter shot.
ReplyDeleteI love the texture of the grasses and snow.
ReplyDeleteYes, shooting into the light can be challenging ~ worth it ~ Wonderful photography for SWF ~ thanks,
