Here are some more views from the ferry ride we took in Portland, Maine. First is an old fort - I wonder what it was like being stationed on this little island.
There were several jetties for boats to discharge their passengers on the islands.
I loved the coastline and houses on these islands.
Of course there were lighthouses to help guide ships.
And here's a view looking back at Portland.

So beautiful photos from the ferry ride, Al!
ReplyDeleteLove lighthouses!
The view of Portland is beautiful too.
Have a lovely weekend!
Loved your ferry ride Al, I also took some time to scroll down your older posts, as I have not been visiting blogland for a while.
ReplyDeleteStill-scratching my head about the No Reading sign!, and will remember those glorious mountain snow shots for a long time. Happy Valentine's Day.
Our oldest was in the Coast Guard stationed in Booth Bay Harbor Maine and he had to spend some time alone on a small island repairing the lighthouse. He didn't tell us about it until after, so it didn't even make me nervous ;>)! We weren't able to visit him when he was stationed there, but we went a long time later and loved it up there -- saw why he loved it so much.
ReplyDeleteThe island certainly looks like a compact, ordered fortress. Fascinating views.
ReplyDeleteYour photos bring back memories of Portland, Al! I loved the big lighthouse there, and LL Bean store
ReplyDeleteGreat photos Al. I would love to live on one of those houses. Well, except during the winter months.
