Prince Street

I'm back after a few days in New York City for work. I played tourist in the evenings, and when I was on the subway I noticed this stop; it seemed interesting after Prince's untimely passing a couple of weeks ago; it's even got the right color tiles.
I don't find the New York subway system to be full of scenic photo opportunities, but it took me to places that were. More on those later...

  1. I know Prince Street. I also know the NYC subway system too well--lol. It certainly is not very scenic although there are some stops where the city made an effort to renew the tiles with scenic ones that describe the area above.

  2. The Prince Street name in NYC dates back to when the Dutch still owned Manhattan Island. It is a direct translation from the original Dutch into English done in the 18th Century. The name only makes us think of Prince, the musician.

  3. Yes, the sign for Prince St. is certainly the right color!

  4. Love that they used purple tiles! I loved that sign, but agree with you that with the subway (as with air travel for that matter) the voyage is obviously not as great as the destination(s) and I look forward to seeing some of those.

  7. I searched and found a sign warning about rats and that was because David Letterman used to complain about the proliferation of rats in the subway.
