My World Tuesday - Colorado Springs Sister City

Colorado Springs has several cities around the world with which it maintains "sister city" relationships. The first of these relationships was created in 1962, with Fujiyoshida, Japan, and this gate and shrine (in the middle of a busy downtown road) commemorate this.
The My World Tuesday blog site contains lots more fascinating worldly snapshots so please visit.

  3. I like the gate. I think it's neat when cities have 'sister cities' from around the world. I know our town does ... they have an 'exchange' every couple of years where some local citizens go to Japan while local Japanese citizens come here. It's really quite fun.

  9. I already guessed that the feature has a Japanese origin before I read the caption.

I used to live in Orange and we also have a sister city from Japan over there. We also have a sister city of Orange CA.

Isn't that wonderful? Fostering friendship and peace by adopting each city?

Thanks for the post and for the visit/comment left while I was away.

  10. I have been to Fujiyoshida many times. They do have a lot of Toris in the city.
