I don't think either of these Skywatch Friday photos is particularly good, but I think they're both mildly interesting in their own way for this meme. The first is of a sky I saw a few days ago, which I thought looked like ripples in the sky, complete with an airplane.
The second is a night shot with the Big Dipper particularly prominent. I captured it taking long exposures during one of the summer meteor showers, but never caught any meteors.
I'll try to come up with something better for next week. In the meantime visit Skywatch Friday for lots more upwards-looking photographs.

I love them, Al! The first shot looks almost exactly like one I caught here recently! And the Big Dipper is awesome with or without the meteor shower! Gorgeous skies, superb captures as always! Have a lovely evening and a great tomorrow!

My compliments on getting a good shot of the big dipper! I still struggle capturing a decent shot of the moon. I like the rippled effect of the clouds too. Great Skywatch Friday shots!
ReplyDeleteI Really like the night shot of the dipper!
ReplyDeleteWell I think they're both great! Clouds like these always remind me of tidal ripples too and I love your shot of the big dipper! Never even realized that the light of the stars would be blue except for that single white one where the water would be flowing out. ;)
ReplyDeleteCiao Al, I believe that photos are always interesting for what everyone sees in them and I see in your first arrow of cupid to spread love and in your second the sea of the universe in which to make a nice dip!
ReplyDeleteHi Al :)
ReplyDeletemolto bello questo cielo di oggi...
il grande carro, riesco a vederlo molto bene nella mia montagna !
Ciao e buona giornata.

Total opposite skies, but both equally beautiful!
ReplyDeletealmost looks like water,
ReplyDeletethey are fantastic! both are a big hit with me :)
ReplyDeleteMuch more than mildly interesting. That first shot is stunning.
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful. Love all your photos.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.
I like them, good work.
ReplyDeletethey are good enough for me :). the first photo reminded me of blue waters with the ripples. and i've never seen the big dipper in photo as clear as this one :)
ReplyDeletei like the first shot, it's magical. Happy skywatching.
ReplyDeleteAl, so glad you stopped by. In answer to your question, this week has been relatively warm, +13 Celsius or so the last couple of days (low 40's for you, I'd guess) We did have a terribly cold spell just over a week ago but that has gone for now. It won't be long and the white stuff will come and stay awhile and with it the cold.
ReplyDeletelove both photos but my fave is the 2nd..so pretty! have a good weekend!
ReplyDeleteBoth are fabulous! I love the streak the airplane is leaving behind and I've never seen the big dipper so clearly before! Wow :-D
ReplyDeleteHappy friday!
I like both very much, and yes the second is so special!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend ;-)
The spirit of camaraderie here is moving. So is your sincerity. You posted what you saw... and we are all more than happy with that. I rather like the perfect ripples with the plane moving in on them, ostensibly to disturb the perfection. And the night sky... well, what I wouldn't give to get a night shot like that! :-)
ReplyDeleteHow did you shoot the stars? Great job.
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos, I really love the stars. Very nice!
ReplyDeleteGREAT

These are just magical.
ReplyDeleteWOW!! we call the 7 point stars for "Karlsonsvogna" - meaning something like "the Karlson's Carriage" or "the carriage of the Karlson.." ;)
