Dusty Contrails

I snapped this photo when I was in Red Rock Canyon recently. After I saw it on the computer, I cleaned my camera's sensor - the annoying dust spots showed up clearly against that large expanse of sky.
We've had quite the weather roller-coaster at our house this week, with temperatures ranging from -17 °F (-27 °C) to 50 °F (10 °C) - a 67 °F (37 °C) swing in a couple of days! And that's my Skywatch Friday post for this week.

  1. Beautiful skies and marvelous capture, Al, and I do understand about roller coaster weather!! We've had the same -- not the extremes you've had, but the same up and down temps! Hope your week is going well. Give Socks a pat for me!!

  2. Hi Al, i am glad i put my disclaimer at the beginning of my post yesterday, for my friends in the temperate countries not to laugh at our cold 19C! I also laughed when you told me your -27°C. My college friend here who is now living in Alberta, Canada came in here this time so at least it is colder, to escape their -37°C. Then it got 24C again here, in time for their departure!

  3. Yeah, we've had some crazy weather here in the PNW too. Had snow and freezing rain last weekend, and now it's warm and rainy. If you don't like the weather, just wait five minutes! :)

  9. I had to get rid of a camera because I couldn't clean the lens and all my sky shots had a big thumbprint looking thing. I hope that doesn't happen again (that first camera was cheap and couldn't be cleaned). Anyway, I wouldn't have noticed yours if you hadn't pointed them out. Beautiful Colorado blue. I have been thinking of Colorado lately!

  10. I expose my camera to a lot of dust with my desert photography. I'll need to figure out how to clean my sensor one of these days!
