When I was hiking in the Black Forest Regional Park, I found these pieces of wood from last year's wildfire.

Bruges Béguinage
Here's a 1977 photo of a béguinage in Bruges, Belgium. It's for the Vintage Weekly theme - post an old photo and link up there. Some of my readers must have entries to help make the meme popular!

Top of the Peak
Continuing with the trip up the Pikes Peak Cog Railway, here are some photos from the top of the Peak, 14,115 feet (4,302 meters) above sea level. If you're in the area, you really should go to the top of the Peak, whether you take the railway, drive, or hike (if you're in great shape)!

Upwards!
Here are more photos from our ride on the Pikes Peak Cog Railway a couple of weeks ago - this time I'm showing some views from the ride up. Next week I'll post some views from the top.

Late Summer Snow
A few days ago it was over 80° F (26.7° C) at my house. It was 29° F (-1.6° C) this morning, and this was the scene that greeted me.
I'm sure the trees are confused with this late summer snow!
And the dogs will wonder what's going on.
It will warm up again by the weekend. This is an amusing extra Skywatch Friday post.

Top of the Peak
Taken from inside the train just before starting the descent, here are some folk enjoying themselves on top of Pikes Peak, elevation 14,115 feet (4,302 meters) above sea level. I bet they didn't know they'd be in a Skywatch Friday blog post!

Cog Railroad Tracks
Continuing with more photos from our trip up the Pikes Peak Cog Railway, I bet there aren't many railways in the world that look like this.
The steepness of the tracks doesn't show up in the photos, but the beauty does.
Eventually the tracks climb above treeline, and keep going up and up.
At these elevations it's arctic tundra, despite a similar latitude to Lisbon.
If you look carefully you can see the railway line zig-zagging from the right to the left as it climbs.
And that's my high-altitude entry for Our World Tuesday.

Green, Orange & Blue
A colorful entry from Red Rock Canyon (a city park) for Skywatch Friday and Orange Friday. I never tire of the blue skies we see 300 days a year here.
