Here are some photos of one of the haulers from a large open pit mine. For scale, look at the people.
Here's the operator's cabin.
In these photos it almost looks like a toy.
I was able to get underneath it.
Even its tires are much larger than a person!

My son drove one of these for a short time building roads in Colorado. They would not let pickup trucks on the job site because the haul truck drivers could not see them, and could run over them. These haulers are amazingly large.
ReplyDeleteYou could set up camp in this!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos. I have seen them from afar but would love to get in the cab of one (not to drive it)
ReplyDeleteGreat shots of huge machine.
ReplyDeleteWow - those trucks are huge!
ReplyDeleteWonderful

Oh my gosh. I know Bill would love to visit this mine -- but I expect we'll have to go on our own. Our CO 'kids' are pretty much environmentalists and would probably hate strip mines, I'm almost sure. (I'm inclined to agree with them, but still would enjoy seeing how they work and as I say I know my husband would.)
ReplyDeleteOh my! Had no idea equipment like this existed. It really looks like a toy (and those guys in there like Lego characters or something like that). #OurWorldTuesday
ReplyDeleteHuge one... Great work...
