Pikes Peak As Seen From Our House

Palmer Park Views

A few weeks ago I posted some photos of rocks from Palmer Park. Here are some views taken on that same hike, all from a single overlook. You'll have to excuse the photo quality, as I don't have a very good telephoto lens. First is a wide-angle view of the sprawling city and the distant mountains.
Next is a telephoto view of Pikes Peak. This is the mountain in the center-right of the previous photo.
Here's a close-up of the downtown area of Colorado Springs. I know this doesn't look like a big city, but the area is home to 500,000 people.
Mining has created some scars on the mountains, here's one of them.
And finally, this is the Garden of the Gods seen from a distance.
And that's this week's tour of my adopted hometown, posted for Scenic Sunday!

  1. Great photo tour of Colorado Springs area! Many years ago I rode the tram up Mt. Manitou, in the shadow of Pikes Peak.

  4. What an extraordinary town/city! The first one is to me quite interesting.. so flat, with the rocks in front and the mountains in the background..

  6. Thank you so very much for this tour here, Colorado must be a pretty place...Funny I follow your blog from Wanda's comment box, your profile is what attracted my attention, then the words of Colorado really grab my attention big time cause there is a possible chance that I may be transplanting myself to Denver, Colorado possible this coming summer months.

  7. Great shots! I always forget to check for some point of interest to center the picture that at times my outdoor shots will appear well, a little bland. haha.

  13. I saw some mountains last Sunday, but yours are so much bigger. There is some dust in my camera now (a Nikon D40) – I guess I’ll take it to a repair shop as I don’t know how to remove it. I see on the side of your blog that you do remove dust - is it difficult?
